Transportation Program
The Senior Transportation Program provides transportation to older citizens for trips to the doctor, grocery store or other necessary errands provided through volunteer drivers.
Transportation Clients call HandsOn Texarkana to arrange for rides.
Volunteers are then contacted and given details regarded client and type of transportation needed.
To be eligible for assistance, the client must be sixty years of age or older and have no other means of transportation or be disabled.
Please note - volunteer drivers are not required to accommodate wheelchairs.
During the pandemic of 2020, the need for food delivery became necessary as our clients are among the most vulnerable and were unable to grocery shop. Through a partnership with Salvation Army, food boxes are now part of an as needed delivery service provided through our Transportation Program.
For more information, to volunteer to become a driver, or to register for the program, please call Tera Savage at 903-798-3211.
